My Crew Role.

I am going to the take the role as an director but I am also sharing this role with Emma Cosgrove. The responsibilties I have to take is, make sure the actors understand the role that they are doing, incase they will get confused. I am also responsible to create the story board and the shooting, for the assistant director understand, what this current scene is about and how I would like it to look.

For my group, I will need to make sure that have a clear understanding on what is going on, and that they understand how I would like the actress to be standing at a certain time because I want them to follow the story bopard exactly how it is lay out, but with a lot more detail.

I need to work closely with Emma Cosgrove, because we are both sharing the role of being a director, and to make sure we both agree on how we would want it to be set out, we can combine more ideas together, the ones we feel happy about.

Comparision

The device I am going to discuss is quality of footage; we see this in the documentary when the quality looks HD (high definition). This makes the audience think that it is very interesting the quality so they can see the full action of the animals on what they do, and the colours which are nice and bright. High definition has been used to make it effective with the close ups. This shows us that a lot of people would find this more appealing if it had amazing quality for everyone to watch and that’s how the producers would get more viewers. This would appeal to the people who are adults, children and people who would like/need to find out more information about a certain animal this is because a lot of adults who would like to see what is going on in outside world or who are in love with animals. On the other hand, in a mockumentary we see the quality not in HD we see it in a bit of poor quality, for example we see this when, they made the filming seem real by instead of matching it with what the character is doing they move the camera very quick like it was not planned so it is a bit scruffy. This wants us to think that this a real life story about this certain person, with no script included and make the audience feel interested in a sort of way.

The second device I will be discussing is observation shot; they use different shot type, in the mockumentary they use Long shot because in the scene when the teenagers from Summer height high get into trouble and they have to go to the teachers office the camera person cannot go inside because it is a private talk and the camera people and not supposed to be filming so in order for us to see they had to film from the classroom glass/window. This makes the audience think that this show is very interesting, getting an exclusive view on what is going on; this shows us that to make it more believe able for the audience to watch they use long shot. This would appeal to teenagers who like to watch comedy, entertainment but not for children because they don’t use suitable language for children under age to watch for adults it is more suitable for them. However, on the documentary they use short shots because in Life – David Attenborough the camera is going on up close without anything having to be private or exclusive but we are looking over the shoulder say for example we this when the African men are collecting some honey, he is looking there should to see what is going on and telling the audience of the steps that they do because he wants to avoid the bee’s. This shows us that he is protecting us and letting us see it at the same time. The audience would feel very interested because they are learning what other culture’s do to collect food but maybe at the same time a bit nervous because anything could happen. This device is used similarly because the documentary and the mockumentary use related shot type but not entirely the same

The third Device I will be talking about is interviews and narrator, the documentary ‘Tribe- with Bruce Perry’ they have used realistic narrating skills to let the audience who is watching it, know every detail of what he can see because the audience cannot clearly see everything that is happening. This would make the audience feel interested about this because, although they cannot clearly see what is going on, the description and the way it has been said brings a lot of tension. The reason why it says a lot of ‘erm’ is because parry is trying to describe and look at the same time on what is going on at the current scene. For the Mockumentary which is ‘Summer Heights High’ their speech is very informal, and their body attitude. The reason why we can’t hear the interviewer is because there is no interviewer, everything is scripted and unrealistic, so there is no point of have an interviewer.

Evaluation

What was your presentation on?

My presentation was about a mockumentary called ‘The life of Alexia Demond’ and the presentation had basic information about what the mockumentary was about, it included the target audience, which I had done.

What section of the presentation did you plan?

The section of the presentation I had planned was, about the target audience. I included what age we want this mockumentary to be towards and only small bullet points about what this show is about.

What skills did you use when you stood in front of the class when you delivered your presentation?

The skill I used to present my presentation was my communicating skills because, while trying to show the audience what the mockumentary will be about, I had to interact with them so I didn’t lose their attention, I also used my body language, to show the audience some energy and not just standing still while trying to make my mockumentary sound not interesting.

How did you feel during the presentation?

At first I felt a bit worried because I felt that something might go wrong during the presentation, but halfway through, I started to gain confidence because I could some people in the audience are a little bit interested about what this mockumentary is about, in order for me to improve this I need to gain confidence from the beginning because, if I don’t feel confident from the start I may not gain any confidence during the presentation.

                        ALEXIA- (calm voice)

You know that girl you randomly kissed in the club?

                        DAMION- (drunken confused voice)

What are you talking about Alexia?

                        ALEXIA- (angry tone)

Don’t act stupid with me DAMION I saw you kiss that girl… you cheated on me! (AlEXIA Slaps DAMION on the face really hard).

                       DAMION- (Angry tone)

How dare you hit me ALEXIA! Ok you wanna play that game... I can ‘play’ along (He pushes ALEXIA against the wall and punches her in the face.)

                       ALEXIA- (Shouting angry tone)

YOUR GOING TO REGRET THAT DAMION! (ALEXIA takes out a sharp pocket knife and slices DAMION arm.) Oh my… I am terribly sorry DAMION (ALEXIA runs away in fear).

Act 1 Scene 2-

INT- BEDROOM – DAY

ALEXIA (16, she has a completely new personality, her new favourite colour is pure black and she now thinks of self and a vampire, she does not wear the glamour look she used to wear.) She wakes up from the terrible nightmare after what had happened in her past in France, she had just recently moved to the UK around the estate of Bermondsey because of the ‘accident’ that happened in France, the police are looking for and the only way she could escape from them is to look completely different and to live somewhere far away.

                        ALEXIA-

(Rises from her coffin bed in fear) Oh gosh it was just a dream, a dream that I wish never happened in real life. (She gets up and puts on her video log) Hello it’s me ALEXIA and this video log is about my new lifestyle in Bermondsey after I just moved from… Australia (not wanting to reveal where she came from), so far it has a COMPLETE nightmare, the girls that call themselves ‘The Beauty Girls’ are ruining my life! But me I call them ‘The Chavs’ because they all act like one, especially these two main girls, one called CHLOE and the other one called LEXIE, they are complete drama queens always making sure they are looking the best and take any chance to ruin ANYONES life, BEWARE! They seem to have issues on how to act like a human being. I have been planning for a very long time on how I am going to bring down ‘The Chavs’ so they can learn not to even try to mess with me again.

                       EDWARD- (shouting)

ALEXIA stop talking to yourself and get up so you can go out of this house, also get your own breakfast your old enough to start looking after yourself since you made us move from FRANCE to this dump place without leaving an explanation. ALEXIA I am not a patient person, come down NOW!

                       ALEXIA- (whispers)

Sorry, that was my dad I gotta go before who knows what will happen (turns off video log). ALL RIGHT DAD IM COMING AND I ALREADY TOLD YOU IM NOT TALKING TO MYSELF IT’S MY VIDEO LOG!

                        EDWARD- (shouting)

I don’t care if it’s your ‘video log’ you’re talking to, stops making up excuses and leave this house this instant, and make sure your home on time otherwise there will be consequences!

                        ALEXIA- (shouting back)

(Quickly puts on clothes and ‘make-up’) yeah, yeah, dad whatever I’d rather leave now than stay with you!

Act 2- Scene 1-

EXT- PAVEMENT- DAY

ALEXIA (16, is wearing her new Goth look with a cigarette on her hand and drinking at the same time) she is walking along the pavement making sure nobody she knows see’s what she is doing. CHLOE (16 the lead of the group always making sure she stands out more than anybody else), LEXIE (16, was the lead until she became too nice that someone else had to take over.) and the rest of the group are walking the same direction as ALEXIA but they don’t know because of the way she looks until they saw her face…

                           CHLOE- (whispers to group)

OMG isn’t that the freaky new girl that goes to our school? No one answer that I’m sure it is, LEXIE take a picture of her with YOUR mobile phone you know just in case anything happens unless your style too nice.

                          LEXIE-

Okay CHLOE that was just a onetime thing, you really want to make a big deal out of it, and then carry on wasting your time. Any who (Takes out phone and takes a picture of ALEXIA).

                         CHLOE-

Watevs LEXIE (rolls eyes and takes LEXIE phone, and walks towards ALEXIA) Hey ALEXIA, that’s your name right? Anyways look at my new screensaver (shows ALEXIA the picture) beautiful right? Funny how EVERYONE in school is going to be talking about this in school tomorrow, this is just amazing.

                          LEXIE-

CHLOE you have serious issues on messing with other people, that picture is a fake, I’m sure you won’t even have the guts to send it around!

Final Treatment

Present:

Kate Moreno, Cathy Gonzalez, Aminata Koroma

Absent: Emma Cosgrove.

Act 1- Set up- Alexia is having a flashback of what happened in France, the fight between her and her ex-boyfriend. They are standing outside a block of flats and it is dark. They bare both slightly drunk and have just come home from clubbing. They are arguing because Alexia saw Damion kissing another girl in the club. Damion gets extremely angry and aggressive and pushes Alexia against the wall and punches her in the face. Then Alexia gets out a very sharp pocket knife and slices Damion’s arm and then runs off. All of a sudden Alexia wakes up from this nightmare and then gets started on her video log of her horrid life in Bermondsey. She introduces herself and the Chavs but she only mentions the main ones who are Chloe and Lexie, Alexia talks about how she plan to ‘bring’ down the Barbie’s because they are ruining her life. What she doesn’t realise things are about to get a lot worse…

Act 2- Conflict- On a Sunday evening Alexia is walking along smoking with a drink in her hand and the chavs see her then, they have fight about it and they take a picture of Alexia and send it to the whole school, the Principle manages to find out and wants to expel her, unfortunately Alexia cannot seem to get out of this situation because, of the evidence that the chavs have taken of her drinking and smoking. The next day when she goes to school all she sees is everyone staring at her, but Alexia doesn’t seem to understand why, the chavs walk up to her, laugh at her and walk away from Alexia, the Principle calls her to the office says nothing to Alexia but shows the picture, now Alexia seems to understand why everyone at school was staring at her, she tried to explain but the Principle wouldn’t believe her, and all the Principle said was ‘Tomorrow the police would like to talk to you about your inappropriate behaviour, you need to write a statement and if this picture is not real or you smoking and drinking you need proof otherwise you will be expelled’. She walks away with an angry face; she will not let any of the Chavs get away with it, until she gets it her way…

Act 3-Since Alexia needs to see the police tomorrow and write a statement about the ‘truth’ she has been planning a way to take down the chavs, she is going to tell the Principle that they photo shopped the whole thing, by showing an old picture of her that looks very a like to similar picture but without her having a cigarette and a drink in her hand, and explain to the Principle and Police how they managed to include the main features in the picture, but mainly blame Chloe and Lexie, because they are the ones who make fun of her the most. The next day which is a Tuesday she talks to the police and Principle and they believed her because Alexia explained it so well and made it seem so real, Police and Principle Explain how sorry they were to Alexia and said that ‘we cannot expel all the girls especially Lexie and Chloe but we will exclude them for 2 weeks and give them a lot of work because if they do not complete it will be extended and given even more work’. Alexia could not have been anymore happy.
